Microsoft wants to reduce its dependence on artificial intelligence (AI) products from OpenAI by using AI models from startup Anthropic, according to a report by The Information , which cited two sources.
According to a report by The Information quoted by TechCrunch on Tuesday (9/9), Microsoft will pay to use Anthropic AI products in Office 365 applications.
Anthropic AI technology will be used to power new features in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint alongside OpenAI technology.
"We can confirm that OpenAI will remain our partner in frontier model development , and we are committed to that long-term partnership," said Microsoft spokesman Michael Collins.
News of Microsoft's diversified partnerships comes amid rising tensions between Microsoft and OpenAI, which has recently developed its own infrastructure project and is preparing a LinkedIn competitor.
