No cases of MPOx have been ruled out in Baja California.

Mexicali, September 4. Seven suspected cases of MPOX (also known as monkeypox) were detected in Baja California, but none were confirmed by health authorities, according to Health Secretary Adrián Medina Amarillas.

"The WHO has requested that it no longer be called monkeypox , but rather that it be recognized as MPOX so as not to stigmatize a group of primates that have nothing to do with the problem," the government official explained.

Suspected cases occurred throughout the state, and samples sent to the Institute of Epidemiological Diagnosis and Reference tested negative , so MPOX has not yet reached the state.

Medina Amarillas explained that due to the confirmed cases in the states bordering Baja California, especially in San Luis Río Colorado , Sonora, the state remains on alert.
