Sports observer Djoko Pekik Irianto believes that President Prabowo's appointment of Erick Thohir as Minister of Youth and Sports was the right decision.
According to him, Erick brings new hope for the revival of national sports.
"It's absolutely true that Erick Thohir's election as Minister of Youth and Sports is a new hope for Indonesian sports, given his track record and international network," Djoko told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Djoko assessed that Erick has a deep understanding of the steps that must be taken immediately, one of which is synergizing various stakeholders such as KONI, KOI, and other sports branches to realize the National Sports Grand Design (DBON).
