Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Nezar Patria has asked digital platforms to introduce checking features to identify content created by artificial intelligence ( AI) to help the public ward off hoaxes and deepfakes .
"We hope global social media platforms can also implement filters, or at least provide a feature to check whether content is AI-generated. This feature should be free for the public to use," Nezar said in a statement.
According to Nezar, the deepfake phenomenon is increasingly worrying, with Data Sensity AI recording a 550 percent increase in deepfake content in the past five years. However, he believes the number is much higher, as the app's ability to create deepfake videos or photos is now massive.
Nezar stated that digital platforms possess computing technology and algorithms that can be utilized for the public interest.
