The Houthis claim responsibility for a missile attack on an Israeli ship after the assassination of their leaders in Sanaa.

"The naval forces of the Yemeni armed forces (the group's forces) carried out a military operation," Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement.

He explained that the operation "targeted the Israeli oil tanker SCARLET RAY in the northern Red Sea, with a ballistic missile that hit the ship."

Saree added that the operation comes "in victory for the oppressed Palestinian people and their dear mujahideen, and in response to the crimes of genocide and starvation committed by the Zionist enemy against our brothers in the Gaza Strip."

It also represents "a confirmation of the continued ban on Israeli maritime traffic in the Red and Arabian Seas," according to Saree.

He stressed the continuation of "preventing Israeli navigation or navigation bound for occupied Palestinian ports in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea."

He continued: "As well as carrying out more military operations against Israeli enemy targets in occupied Palestine."
