The Steadfastness Fleet demands punishment for the killers of activist Aisha Nour, and a US senator moves to hold them accountable

This came in a post on the fleet's Instagram account on Saturday, marking the first anniversary of Aige's killing by the Israeli occupation forces. The post added, "Exactly one year ago today, Aisha Noor was killed by the Israeli Defense Forces in the West Bank while peacefully striving for Palestinian freedom."

The post included a video message from Hamid Ali, Aisha Noor's husband, and her sister, Ozgen Aygi Bennet, which read: "Aisha Noor and hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and their supporters have been killed by the Israeli government and occupation for decades, and they have done so with complete impunity." The message added: "Her heart, determination, and courage are winds in our sails today and always. She is with us as we sail towards Palestine."

In a related development, US Democratic Senator Maria Cantwell announced that she plans to introduce a bill investigating the killing of Americans by foreign militaries or intelligence agencies beginning in 2024.

Cantwell said in a blog post on the US company X on Saturday that she had called on the US Departments of State and Justice to open separate investigations into Aisha Noor's murder, but these requests were rejected.

She added, "Therefore, I plan to propose amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) or introduce a separate bill to appoint a special permanent representative at the U.S. Department of State to investigate the killing of American citizens by foreign militaries or intelligence services beginning in 2024."
