Tijuana, April 6. After the state attorney general, María Elena Andrade Ramírez, confirmed on Sunday, May 5, that three of the bodies found in a well in Ensenada on May 3 were those of Jake Robinson, Callum Robinson, and Jack Carter Rhoad , officials from the United States and Australian governments sent their condolences to the families of the victims.
During a press conference held this afternoon, State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller confirmed the murder of U.S. citizen Jack Carter Rhoad in response to a question on the matter.
He indicated that the United States is closely monitoring this situation and is coordinating with Mexican authorities in their investigation.
"We offer our sincere condolences to his family for this loss," he said, adding that, out of respect for the surfer's family, the U.S. government would not be commenting further on the matter at this time.
The Australian ambassador to Mexico, Rachel Moseley, posted a message on social media stating that, together with the Federal Police and the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, she has been providing all possible support, "including their return trip home," to the Robinson brothers' family.
He also noted that they continue to work with Mexico on the investigation into the multiple murder and thanked local authorities for their cooperation.
“ My heart is broken by the deaths of Australians Callum and Jake Robinson and their American friend Jack Carter Rhoad,” the ambassador said.
