Tijuana, January 26. With 10 femicides committed during 2023, Tijuana was the fifth municipality nationwide with the most recorded crimes of this type, and the first in Baja California, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (Sesnsp).
The figures were published monthly by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC). According to the information, half of the 20 femicides recorded in Baja California last year were committed in Tijuana. With this statistic, the state ranked 14th in the country, with 827 reported, and fourth on the northern border.
Regarding domestic violence crimes, the SSPC reported that Baja California ranked sixth in the country last year, reporting 14,626 cases. Mexico City ranked first, the State of Mexico second, Nuevo León third, Jalisco fourth, and Guanajuato fifth.
