Trump says Xi Jinping gave green light for TikTok deal

United States President Donald Trump announced that Chinese President Xi Jinping has approved a deal regarding TikTok that will allow the short-video platform to be managed by a consortium of investors from the United States.

"The phone call went very well, we'll talk again, and I appreciate the TikTok agreement," Trump said on his Truth Social account, after saying the deal was one of the items agreed to in the call between Trump and Xi.

As reported by Tech Crunch on Saturday (20/9) local time, TikTok's parent company, ByteDance, also issued an official statement confirming its commitment to ensuring the application remains available to users in the United States through TikTok US.

In a statement on its official website, ByteDance expressed its gratitude to President Xi Jinping and President Donald Trump for their efforts to maintain TikTok's continued existence in the United States.
