eporter respectively of the digital media Veraz agency, based in Cosoleacaque, died after being shot in the Cerro Alto neighborhood, on the limits of that municipality with Minatitlán, reported the State Commission for the Attention and Protection of Journalists (CEAPP).

With them, the total number of journalists murdered in the country so far this year is 11.

Mollinedo and García Olivera were taken alive to a hospital, where they died minutes later.

According to witnesses, the attack occurred before 4 p.m., as the two women were leaving a store located on Benito Juárez and Francisco I. Madero streets.

The journalists were preparing to get into a car when they were shot by unknown assailants. The gunmen fled, and citizens reported the incident to 911.

Civil Protection paramedics treated reporter Yessenia and the other woman, identified as Johanna. Both were taken to a hospital in Minatitlán, where they died a few minutes later.

Public Security agencies launched an operation, including helicopters, to try to capture the killers.

The crime scene was cordoned off for preventive measures, and personnel from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) were notified and responded to conduct initial investigations.
