Milan opened the scoring early, just four minutes into the match, after a corner kick taken by the team was cleared by defender Honest Ahanur from in front of Atalanta’s goal. The ball reached Samuel Ricci on the edge of the penalty area, who shot a ball that hit Atalanta midfielder Ederson before settling in the net.
But Atalanta managed to equalize in the 35th minute, when their Nigerian striker Ademola Lookman received a precise through ball from his Croatian teammate Mario Pasalic, and fired a powerful shot that nestled in the net of Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
The tie between the two teams continued until the end of the match, with each team getting one point.
Atalanta drew for the fifth consecutive round, bringing their total to 13 points and placing them sixth in the standings.
As for Milan, they now have 18 points in second place, ahead of Roma in third place on goal difference, who host Parma on Wednesday evening in the same round of matches.
With this draw, Milan missed the opportunity to reduce the gap with the defending champion, Napoli, who lead the standings with 21 points after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Lecce earlier on Tuesday.
