Apple has reportedly halted development of a lighter and more affordable version of its Vision Pro headset to shift its focus to its smart glasses project.
As reported by Macrumors on Thursday, a Bloomberg report stated that this step was taken to catch up with its competitor, Meta, which had previously launched smart glasses with artificial intelligence (AI) technology in collaboration with Ray-Ban.
Previously, rumors circulated that Apple was developing a lighter and cheaper device called “Vision Air” to be launched in 2027. However, now the engineering team developing the device has been diverted to the smart glasses project.
Apple's smart glasses are projected to feature cameras, microphones, and AI capabilities. The product is expected to be unveiled next year and officially released in 2027.
