Apple is reportedly considering postponing the launch of its first foldable phone, the iPhone Fold, for a longer period, until 2027.
The delay in the iPhone Fold launch schedule is said to be due to technical issues related to improvements to the hinge and screen structure.
As reported by Gizmochina, Friday (17/10), this news first came from research notes from Japanese securities company Mizuho Securities, which were quoted by The Elec, revealing that these two components are the most complicated components, making them difficult to decide on.
However, Apple is reportedly targeting mass production for its first foldable phone in the third quarter of 2026. The same period as the launch of the iPhone 18.
If this plan can be fulfilled, then the iPhone Fold may debut alongside the iPhone 18e which is rumored to be released in spring 2027.
Due to this constraint, Mizuho in its report also projected a possible decrease in Apple's display panel production for the iPhone Fold from the previous 13 million to 9 million.
In an optimistic scenario, the investment research firm estimates Apple may ship an initial 5-7 million units of the iPhone Fold.
