By the end of 2024, China will have more than 10,000 companies operating in the virtual reality (VR) sector, according to the World Conference on the VR Industry (WCVRI) 2025, which concluded on Monday (20/10) in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province.
Xie Shaofeng, chief engineer at China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, stated that the country's VR sector has initially established a self-sufficient industrial system, a diverse and integrated application ecosystem, and a relatively complete industrial ecology.
Positive results have been achieved in core technology breakthroughs, standards development, and technology integration, Xie added.
In recent years, China has formulated more than 30 national standards and led the creation of nearly 10 international standards in key areas such as virtual digital humans and VR terminal equipment, which have helped guide and ensure standardized development in the industry.
Organized by the Jiangxi Provincial government, six sessions of the WCVRI have been held in Nanchang to date.
