Instant messaging platform Discord recently announced that one of its third-party customer service providers experienced a data breach, resulting in the leakage of a small amount of its customers' data.
"As soon as we became aware of this attack, we immediately took steps to address the situation," Discord said in an official statement on Friday (3/10).
Data breachers targeted a third-party customer support service that Discord uses to access user data and the hackers aimed to demand a ransom from the platform.
Steps taken to address this incident include revoking the customer service provider's access to Discord's ticketing system, initiating an internal investigation, engaging a computer forensics firm to support the investigation and remediation efforts, and engaging law enforcement.
