The army clarified that Palestinian movement is permitted via the Rashid and Salah al-Din roads, as residents begin the gradual return to their homes.
Israel officially announced on Friday that a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip would take effect at 12:00 noon today.
The Israeli army said in a statement: "Starting at 12:00, IDF forces have been positioned along the new operational deployment lines in accordance with the ceasefire agreement." It continued: "IDF forces in the Southern Command are deployed in the area and will continue to work to remove any immediate threat," without providing further details.
The army began withdrawing from Palestinian cities and towns to the Yellow Line inside the Gaza Strip overnight, in accordance with the agreement with Hamas. It stated that with the completion of the redeployment to the Yellow Line, it would retain control over 53% of the Gaza Strip. The agreement stipulates that the Israeli occupation army will carry out further withdrawals in the coming period.
In this context, the Gaza government called on citizens to fully cooperate with governmental and humanitarian agencies to facilitate the provision of services and ensure the gradual restoration of life.
The Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza confirmed that its forces would begin deploying in areas from which the occupation forces withdrew to restore order and address the chaos caused by the army over the past two years.
In its statement, the ministry stressed the need to protect public and private property, avoid any behavior that poses a threat to citizens' lives, and adhere to the directives issued by security and service agencies in the coming days.
On Friday morning, the Israeli government ratified the ceasefire agreement on the Gaza Strip and prisoner exchange with Palestinian factions.
Early Thursday morning, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his ceasefire and prisoner exchange plan.
The agreement came after four days of indirect negotiations between the two parties in the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, with the participation of delegations from Türkiye, Egypt, and Qatar, and under US supervision.
Tel Aviv estimates that there are 48 Israeli prisoners in Gaza, 20 of whom are still alive. Meanwhile, more than 11,100 Palestinians are languishing in its prisons, suffering from torture, starvation, and medical neglect. Many of these Palestinians have been killed, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights and media reports.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023, leaving 67,194 martyrs and 169,890 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children.
