Indonesian table tennis will return to the international multi-sport event at the 2025 Bahrain Asia Youth Games (AYG) after last appearing at the 2019 SEA Games.
According to a statement from the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) in Jakarta on Wednesday, participation in Bahrain marks the first time in the last decade that Indonesian table tennis has participated again after being hit by dual leadership within the All-Indonesia Table Tennis Association (PTMSI).
Now, Indonesian table tennis is back on the international stage through the Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) as a new federation recognized by the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) and the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).
The IPL fielded four young athletes in Bahrain: Oktavia Kirana, Diska Anindia Susanto, Jehezekel Jason Christian, and Mochammad Tarikh. They competed in the men's singles, women's singles, and mixed doubles events.
The four athletes performed impressively by qualifying for the knockout round.
Women's singles player Oktavia Kirana advanced to the round of 32 before being eliminated by Taiwan's Wan-rong Lin. Jason Christian suffered a similar fate, losing 0–3 to India's Ritvik Gupta in the round of 32.
