Thousands of men between the ages of 25 and 30 are increasingly using medication for baldness. In the Issue, we pose a question or statement to our readers. Today: preventing baldness? No, that's not necessary. Let nature take its course. Comment on this issue below.

Thousands of men between the ages of 25 and 30 are increasingly using medication for baldness. Dermatologists see how insecure, even depressed, men can become at the prospect of going bald.

Seventeen-year-old boys sometimes already see receding hairlines or balding on the crowns. "That can have such a huge impact on their social life," says dermatologist Tristan van Dongen of the Spaarne Gasthuis. The doctor sees boys skipping their final exams and not seeing any friends. "They're embarrassed, for example, or get a comment about their hair."

Even top footballer Cristiano Ronaldo makes no secret of his fear of going bald. He's even founded fifteen hair clinics. "I wouldn't be the same Cristiano without hair," Ronaldo told radio station Loud FM. "I think you just look better with hair and have more confidence."

Men often need psychological help because they become so depressed by their hair loss: “We underestimate how disastrous it is for some people when it falls out,” says Van Dongen.

Can you live comfortably with a bald head? Do you accept it as it comes? Or do you feel insecure about hair loss? Would you like to prevent it? Have you already taken measures? Join the conversation and give your feedback!

About 20 years ago, I discovered in a photo at Efteling, after we'd been on the whitewater ride, that I was starting to get a bald head from behind. I knew I had receding hairlines and didn't mind. After much deliberation, I decided to have my hair cut. Even the ladies at the hair salon complimented me. It's just a hairstyle. Sincerely, Henk

I'm also one of those men who started going bald at 17. Because I didn't want to look like a 56-year-old monk at 32, I've been shaving my head completely ever since. Every weekend, I shave. I wouldn't want it any other way now. A wig or headgear: WARM, pffff...

I've been bald since I was 25, and I'm actually quite happy with it. It saves me a lot of haircuts and time in front of the mirror! It can't be helped. You'll just have to make do.

It varies from person to person. Umberto Tan looks good with his bald head. Johan Derksen, on the other hand, looks a bit out of place with his haircut.

When the sun shines, put on a hat.

I don't care at all about going bald. I'd rather be completely bald.

I find it funny that most people see bald men as "sexy." This way, men have a disadvantage (cold even in winter, risk of sunstroke in summer) cleverly turned into an advantage. Unfortunately, that doesn't apply to women. They have to look "hot." They have to walk in heels, stay young (otherwise they'd be off the air!), and female performers have to wear a bikini on stage/on the red carpet. Especially with blow-dried hair... men in baggy pant

s and hoodies... bald, old men stay on the air.
