This came during his speech at the executive meeting of the speakers of the parliaments of Azerbaijan, Pakistan, and Turkey in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, which focused on issues of trilateral cooperation.
At the beginning of his speech, Kurtulmuş expressed Turkey's support for Pakistan in its fight against terrorism and offered his condolences to the families of the victims of the floods that struck Pakistan last September.
Speaking about Gaza, Kurtulmuş noted that humanitarian initiatives and the efforts of pro-Palestinian parliaments contributed to halting the genocide perpetrated by Israel over the past two years.
He stressed the need to continue efforts to ensure the continuation of the ceasefire, end the starvation suffered by the Palestinians, end Israel's illegal occupation and blockade, and achieve lasting peace.
Kurtulmuş stressed the need to hold Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his government accountable for committing genocide against tens of thousands of Palestinians, using starvation as a weapon. He added that the political struggle must continue until the two-state solution is achieved and a fully independent Palestinian state is established.
With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 8, 2023, leaving 67,806 martyrs and 170,066 wounded, most of them children and women, and causing a famine that claimed the lives of 463 Palestinians, including 157 children.
Kurtulmuş also touched on Syria, stating that the new administration there has made strenuous efforts to ensure the country's territorial integrity, political unity, and stability, and has established a legislative body by recently holding parliamentary elections.
Kurtulmuş added, "We believe that all parties must work with shared responsibility to ensure stability in Syria, prevent conflicts, and ensure lasting peace."
On December 8, 2024, Syrian factions took control of the country, ending 61 years of Baath Party rule, including 53 years of Assad family rule.
