University of Indonesia Digital Culture and Communications Observer Firman Kurniawan said that in the first year of President Prabowo Subianto's administration, digital space regulations have been more focused on prioritizing user security.
Through an initiative proposed by the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi), regulations issued over the past year demonstrate the state's commitment to ensuring the public can access services from Electronic System Providers (PSE) in a safe and secure digital space.
"The government has already established a firm position on regulating digital platform developers. For example, the Tunas PP (Government Regulation on Child Protection) has repeatedly demanded platforms take responsibility for safeguarding digital spaces for children's safety. Furthermore, the latest gaming regulations stipulate age limits for players," Firman said when contacted.
Analyzing the regulation in question, PP Tunas is Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning Governance of Electronic System Implementation in Child Protection.
The Tunas PP was passed on March 28, 2025, and emphasizes the responsibility of digital platforms to comply with the obligation to provide security for child users and a filtering system for harmful content. s
