An aggressive dog was shot dead by police on Friday night after it attacked its owners in Zoetermeer.

The man and woman were injured in the animal attack. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The pair were taken to a hospital. "Unfortunately, we had to shoot the animal in the garden," police said. The situation was subsequently declared safe.

Several shots were reportedly fired during the incident at Shetland in Zoetermeer. Police cordoned off a large area around the house during the incident.

Two dogs were also present in the house. Dog handlers entered the house and managed to control the animals.
