President Erdoğan arrives in Qatar as part of his Gulf tour. Fidan and Kalin meet with Hamas leadership in Doha.


President Erdoğan's visit to Qatar came at the invitation of its Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, as part of his Gulf tour. He arrived from Kuwait, the first leg of his tour, which also includes the Sultanate of Oman.


The Turkish President was received at Hamad International Airport by Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan bin Ali Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of the State of Qatar, Qatari officials, Ankara's Ambassador to Doha Mustafa Goksu, and other officials.



President Erdoğan is expected to hold bilateral meetings with the Emir of Qatar and delegation-level meetings, in addition to attending the 11th meeting of the Türkiye-Qatar Supreme Strategic Committee and the signing ceremony of several agreements.


In this context, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Intelligence Chief Ibrahim Kalin met with Hamas Shura Council Chairman Mohammed Ismail Darwish and members of the movement's Political Bureau in Doha.


Diplomatic sources reported that Fidan and Kalin met Tuesday evening with the head of Hamas's Shura Council and members of the movement's political bureau in Doha, without revealing the content of the meeting between the two delegations.


President Erdoğan is accompanied on his visit to Qatar by his wife, Emine Erdoğan, as well as Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek, Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır, and Trade Minister Ömer Bolat.


He was also accompanied by the head of the National Intelligence Organization, Ibrahim Kalin, the head of the Presidency's Communications Directorate, Burhaneddin Duran, the head of the Defense Industries Authority, Haluk Gürgun, and the president's senior advisor for security and foreign affairs, Akif Çağatay Kılıç, along with figures from the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
