Real Madrid Basketball failed to win their opening match of the 2025 EuroLeague competition after losing 68-74 to Virtus Bologna at the Paladozza, Bologna, Italy.
According to the club's website on Wednesday, Madrid dominated the first quarter, but Sergio Scariolo's side were unable to maintain consistency as they struggled to score from the outside line.
Although Mario Hezonja was the top scorer with 14 points, the team failed to win.
Madrid initially played a disciplined game, allowing Virtus to score 14 points in the first quarter. Hezonja contributed six points, and the duo of Edy Tavares and Bruno Fernando were solid in the paint.
The Spanish team closed the opening quarter with a 19-14 lead.
However, the game changed in the second quarter as Virtus Bologna increased the intensity and tempo of their attacks. Luka Vildoza, Morgan, and Niang gave the hosts a decisive lead.
