The death toll from starvation and genocide in the Gaza Strip is rising, and the Red Cross suspends its work following the Israeli escalation.

The ministry reported in its daily statistical statement that the death toll from the ongoing genocide since October 7, 2023, has risen to 66,148 martyrs and 168,716 injured.

She confirmed that hospitals had received 51 martyrs and 180 wounded over the past 24 hours as a result of the Israeli occupation's continued attacks on various areas of the Gaza Strip. She noted that victims were buried under the rubble of destroyed homes and in the streets, where ambulance and civil defense crews were unable to reach them due to the ongoing bombardment.

The ministry added that the death toll among those awaiting aid since May 27 has risen to 2,580 martyrs and 18,930 injured, including four martyrs and 57 injured in the past 24 hours alone.

The ministry indicated that the death toll from Palestinian casualties since the occupation resumed its genocide on March 18 has reached 13,280 martyrs and 56,675 wounded.

It also announced that the death toll from starvation and malnutrition due to the Israeli blockade has risen to 455 Palestinians, including 151 children, after two new deaths were recorded today.

She explained that the number of deaths recorded since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared famine in Gaza City last August has reached 177, including 36 children.

The occupation kills 100 Palestinians daily.

In this context, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation kills an average of 100 Palestinians per day in the Gaza Strip.

"On average, 100 people are killed every day in Gaza, as a result of the Israeli military operation or gunfire at food distribution points run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation," Lazzarini explained via the X platform.

He added, "Others are dying of hunger or lack of medical care," stressing that "the rising death toll is breeding a growing sense of apathy." He called for the documentation of ongoing crimes and for justice to be served, reiterating the demand for an immediate ceasefire and accountability for those responsible for violations.

The Red Cross suspends its work in Gaza City.

Meanwhile, the International Committee of the Red Cross announced on Wednesday that it had been forced to suspend its operations in Gaza City and relocate its staff to the southern part of the Strip "due to the escalation of Israeli military operations."

The committee said in a statement that the decision came "at a time when tens of thousands of Gaza City residents are facing dire humanitarian conditions and are in dire need of further assistance."

She added that civilians in Gaza "are being subjected to killing, forced displacement, and forced to endure harsh conditions," while Red Crescent and Civil Defense teams are working tirelessly to provide relief, but their capabilities are severely limited by the bombing.

The committee affirmed that it will continue providing support from its offices in Deir al-Balah and Rafah, including supplying the few remaining hospitals in Gaza with life-saving medicines and operating that it will continue providing support from its offices in Deir al-Balah and Rafah, including supplying the few remaining hospitals in Gaza with life-saving medicines and operating a field hospital in Rafah as a "lifeline" for wounded Palestinians.

The ICRC emphasized that Israel, as an occupying power, is obligated to ensure that the basic needs of civilians are met, underscoring the need to protect medical and civil defense personnel and facilities, and to ensure the urgent and unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid throughout the Gaza Strip.

Since March 2, Israel has closed the crossings into Gaza, preventing any food or humanitarian aid from entering the Strip. This has plunged the Strip into famine, despite the backlog of aid trucks at its borders.

The Israeli occupation army continues its genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, continuing to implement its plan to occupy the territory, despite US President Donald Trump's announcement on Monday of his plan to stop the war in Gaza.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it.

In addition to the martyrs and wounded, most of whom were children and women, the genocide left more than 9,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands of displaced people.
