The death toll rises amid a stifling famine, and Israel continues to encircle Gaza City despite announcing a halt to the occupation.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced that the death toll from the ongoing genocide since October 7, 2023, has risen to 67,074 martyrs and 169,430 wounded.

In its daily statistical statement, the ministry said it had added 720 martyrs whose data was complete to the cumulative death toll, noting that hospitals in the Gaza Strip had received 66 martyrs and 265 wounded in the past 24 hours as a result of the ongoing Israeli attacks.

She confirmed that there were a number of victims under the rubble of destroyed homes and on the streets, as ambulance and civil defense crews were unable to reach them.

She indicated that the death toll among those waiting for aid since May 27 has risen to 2,603, with more than 19,094 injured. She explained that hospitals in the Gaza Strip have received six martyrs and 40 injured from aid distribution sites in the last few hours.

In this context, the ministry stated that the death toll since the Israeli occupation resumed its genocide in Gaza on March 18 has risen to 13,486 martyrs and 57,389 wounded.

The Ministry of Health also announced that the number of Palestinians who have died as a result of famine and malnutrition caused by Israel's starvation policy has risen to 459, including 154 children, since October 7, 2023. It noted that two new child deaths were recorded in the past 24 hours.

The death toll since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared famine in Gaza last August has reached 181, including 39 children, according to the statement.

The occupation continues to force the Palestinians of Gaza City to flee.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced Saturday morning that Israel is "preparing to implement the first phase of US President Donald Trump's plan for the immediate release of all Israeli hostages."

Meanwhile, the official Israeli Broadcasting Authority and Army Radio reported that the political leadership had issued a directive to halt the occupation of Gaza City and "reduce military activity to purely defensive levels."

On Friday evening, Hamas announced that it had submitted its response to the Trump plan to the mediators. It confirmed its agreement to the release of all Israeli prisoners, living and dead, and its willingness to hand over control of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independent technocrats, based on national consensus and Arab and Islamic support. Hamas emphasized that the future of Gaza and the rights of the Palestinian people would be discussed within a purely Palestinian framework. On September 29, Trump announced a 20-point plan, including the release of Israeli prisoners held in Gaza within 72 hours of Israel's acceptance of the plan, Israel's acceptance of the plan, a ceasefire, and the disarmament of Hamas.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with American support, has been committing genocide in Gaza, including killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, ignoring all international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it. In addition to the martyrs and wounded, most of whom are children and women, the genocide has left more than 9,000 missing and hundreds of thousands displaced.
