The Israeli government today ratified the Gaza agreement, with the start of a gradual withdrawal of the occupation army from the Strip.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry said via the X company's platform: "According to the expected schedule, the political-security cabinet and the government are scheduled to meet at 3:00 PM today (Israel time)."

She explained that the meeting will be devoted to "approving the release of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the release of the living abductees, as part of the first phase of the plan."

The ministry added: "In about an hour (with the cabinet meeting completed), the government will meet."

She continued: "At this stage, the government will not ratify the remaining terms of the deal."

She stated that "after the government's approval, the Israeli army's withdrawal will begin to the line agreed upon with Hamas as part of the plan, and the withdrawal process will be completed within 24 hours."

She added: "As part of the withdrawal, the Israeli army will withdraw from Gaza City, which it recently entered as part of Operation Gideon 2, while maintaining control over 53 percent of the Strip's territory."

Meanwhile, three Israeli military divisions began withdrawing from Gaza City. The official Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported: "Three army divisions fighting in Gaza City last night began evacuating their forces from the city and the refugee camps on its outskirts."

The authority spoke of "fear of friction with Palestinians who will attempt to return north today, so forces are preparing to leave the city and its suburbs and will move to the yellow line (the first withdrawal line stipulated in the Trump plan)."

At dawn on Thursday, US President Donald Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his ceasefire and prisoner exchange plan.

With American support, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza since October 8, 2023, leaving 67,183 martyrs and 169,841 wounded, most of them children and women, and a famine that has claimed the lives of 460 Palestinians, including 154 children. For decades, Israel has occupied Palestine and territories in Syria and Lebanon, refusing to withdraw from them or establish an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders.
