In the fourth round, the Green Falcons defeated Iraq and Indonesia to officially qualify, while Iraq will play the final play-off match against the UAE to determine the team that will qualify for the global play-off.
Frenchman Hervé Renard has been leading the national team since his return in October 2024, following a stint in charge between 2019 and 2023, during which he achieved a historic victory over Argentina in the 2022 World Cup.
Renard is officially contracted with the Saudi national team until the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which the Kingdom will host.
