A simple habit that reduces one of the symptoms of seasonal allergies

Japanese researchers revealed in a recent study that following a simple daily habit may help reduce eye irritation and redness caused by seasonal allergies.

Scientific Reports reported that a recent study showed that a simple habit like washing your eyes regularly can significantly reduce eye irritation and redness caused by seasonal allergies.

Scientists analyzed data from 476 users of the AllerSearch app, including approximately 70 people who regularly rinsed their eyes as a preventative measure to alleviate seasonal allergy symptoms. The results showed that these individuals experienced less itching, watering, and redness, and were able to enjoy longer symptom-free days during allergy season, along with a noticeable improvement in their overall health. The researchers also confirmed that rinsing the eyes did not exacerbate dry eye symptoms, indicating the safety of this practice.

A new vaccine has been developed to treat severe allergies. The researchers note that these findings support previous recommendations by Japanese ophthalmologists to use eyewash as a gentle measure for allergic conjunctivitis, but the new study provides more specific evidence about the benefits of this practice for seasonal allergies. However, the study did not specify the exact number of times to wash the eyes daily, or the methods used by users of the app.

The researchers emphasized that eyewash cannot be considered a substitute for medical treatment, but it represents a simple and safe way to relieve seasonal allergy symptoms and improve quality of life.
