Attacks by the occupation army and settlers escalate in the West Bank... and 198 settlers storm Al-Aqsa Mosque

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA said that “the Israeli occupation army arrested a young man during a raid on the city of Al-Bireh,” adding that “clashes broke out between citizens and occupation forces in the city center, during which soldiers fired live ammunition, without any injuries being reported.”

In the northern West Bank, Wafa reported that clashes broke out when the occupation army stormed the town of Beit Furik, east of Nablus.

She noted that "the occupation forces stormed Beit Furik, amidst the firing of live ammunition, sound bombs, and toxic gas, which led to clashes, without any injuries being reported."

The Israeli occupation army also installed two new iron gates west of the city of Salfit, according to Wafa.

She explained that “the Israeli occupation forces installed two new iron gates near the entrance to the town of Deir Ballut, west of Salfit, one towards the village of Rafat, and the other towards the village of Al-Lubban Al-Gharbiya, as part of the policy of tightening the siege on the West Bank, cutting it off and turning it into isolated areas, restricting the movement of citizens and imposing collective punishments on them.”

settler attacks

In a related incident, several Palestinians sustained injuries on Monday as a result of an attack carried out by settlers under the protection of the Israeli army in the town of Sa'ir, northeast of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank. The attack involved beatings with batons and the burning of a house and two vehicles.

Eyewitnesses said that a group of settlers stormed the Wadi Sa’ir area and attacked Palestinian homes, before deliberately setting fire to a house and two vehicles.

The witnesses added that the settlers assaulted the residents with batons and stones, resulting in injuries to a number of women and elderly men, without an accurate count being available.

They explained that the occupation forces prevented ambulances and fire trucks from reaching the area, which exacerbated the damage and prevented the provision of treatment to the injured.

According to the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, last October witnessed about 2,350 Israeli attacks, including 1,584 attacks carried out by the occupation army, and 766 attacks by settlers.

Storming the Al-Aqsa Mosque

In Jerusalem, 198 Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while 974 tourists entered the mosque, according to an official statement.

The Palestinian Jerusalem Governorate said: “198 settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque during the morning and evening incursions imposed by the occupation as a fait accompli today,” adding: “The number of tourists who entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque reached 974.”

It is noted that 10,822 Israeli settlers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque during last October

Call to stop "settler terrorism"

In addition, the Palestinian government called for international action to stop Israeli settler terrorism in the occupied West Bank, while also warning of “suspicious” companies managing displacement operations in the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian Cabinet warned in a statement of the danger posed by "organized settler militias that terrorize Palestinian villages and towns and commit systematic crimes against civilians."

He said the crimes include "physical assaults, arson, uprooting of trees and terrorizing of residents, without any deterrent or accountability from the Israeli government, which provides them with the necessary cover and support for expansion, in clear violation of the provisions of international law."

The Cabinet also warned the people of the Gaza Strip about “suspicious companies” that manage displacement operations under humanitarian pretenses, exploiting the harsh conditions that our people in the Strip are going through, which has exposed many of them to real dangers.

He stressed that the Palestinian government is "the only entity authorized to coordinate the travel of citizens, in a way that ensures their safety and preserves their rights."

Since October 2023, coinciding with the war of extermination on Gaza, Israel has escalated its measures in Jerusalem, Al-Aqsa Mosque and the West Bank, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 1,074 Palestinians, the injury of about 10,700, in addition to the arrest of more than 20,500 others, during the two years of the war of extermination in Gaza.

The Israeli genocide in Gaza, which lasted for two years and ended with a ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2015, left more than 69,000 Palestinian martyrs and more than 170,000 wounded.
