"If Marquinhos is healthy, he will play his 500th game tomorrow. That's a big number. It's very important to have a player like him. It's a pleasure to see a player with such an amazing record," said Enrique, as quoted on PSG's official website on Wednesday.
The Spanish tactician said Marquinhos is a key player and a good leader for PSG. As head coach, he hopes the Brazilian defender will remain a member of his squad for years to come.
"He's a slightly different player, a true leader. He's very important and I hope to have him for many years to come," said Enrique.
Marquinhos joined Paris Saint-Germain from AS Roma in the summer of 2013. According to Transfermarkt, during his 12 years with the squad nicknamed Les Parisiens, the 31-year-old defender has made 499 appearances and managed to record 42 goals and 12 assists.
