Fidan: Israel is not honoring its commitments in Gaza and we reject the continuation of this situation.

This came during a joint press conference on Friday with his Romanian counterpart, Oana Toiu, in the capital, Ankara.

Fidan explained that "the efforts made to return all prisoners and bodies to Israel are among the most prominent indicators of the constructive position of the Palestinian side," adding: "In contrast, Israel continues to fail to fulfill its obligations regarding the delivery of humanitarian aid."

He pointed out that trucks loaded with aid are not reaching Gaza, and the basic needs of the Palestinians remain unmet, stressing Turkey's rejection of the continuation of this situation, and calling for urgent and necessary measures to be taken to deliver aid.

The Turkish minister noted that "a draft resolution on Gaza is scheduled to be submitted to the UN Security Council," explaining that Türkiye is sharing its views and contributions on the draft with the relevant parties.

He stressed that Ankara has been working with international community partners for two years to implement the current ceasefire in Gaza, noting that all relevant Turkish institutions, under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, have wholeheartedly supported this cause and done everything in their power.

Fidan stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire in Gaza, noting that the situation is "fragile" because "the Israeli administration and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu do not believe in the basic objectives of the ceasefire."

Regarding Turkish-Romanian relations, Fidan said that Romania is Turkey's largest partner in Eastern Europe, and that both sides are seeking to strengthen cooperation in the areas of air, land and sea transport.

He stressed that Black Sea security and regional stability are of utmost importance to Türkiye, adding that Turkey and the European Union complement each other, and that Ankara "sees positive messages from European leaders."

Fidan noted that the two sides discussed ways to end the Russian-Ukrainian war and achieve peace between the two countries, expressing Turkey's appreciation for Romania's support for its candidacy to join the European Union.
