In October, Shvabe, a subsidiary of the Russian state corporation Rostec, unveiled a portable laser system used to target drones.

The Russian news agency TASS reported that the Russian "LazerBuzz" laser systems are now capable of destroying FPV-type drones in half a second.

This system is part of the "Bosukh" (Okaz) project by the Shvabe company and is used to protect infrastructure, industrial facilities, and strategic sites from drone attacks. The company confirmed that the system is fully operational and that its potential delivery is being pursued in coordination with the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The new system, which was first presented at the Sea Air Space 2025 Forum, features distributed laser enhancement technology, small size, an air cooling system via a special air intake, and laser charging from a high-density battery, which reduces weight and power requirements and makes it suitable for installation on aircraft with strict limitations.

It is worth noting that the media previously reported that the American “SkyGuardian” MQ-9B drone is equipped with a powerful 25-kilowatt laser, can fly for more than 40 hours at an altitude of up to 12 kilometers, has a wingspan of 24 meters, and carries a payload of up to 2.2 tons, making the comparison between Russian and American technologies a matter of global interest.
