PSIM Yogyakarta coach Jean-Paul van Gastel believes that host Persija deserved to win when the two teams met in the BRI Super League match, which was held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Jakarta, on Friday.The 0-2 defeat to Persija was PSIM's third defeat in the Indonesian League this season, and left them stuck in fourth place in the standings with 22 points from 13 matches.
"Persija deserved to win, but we didn't play badly. I think we started well. In the first half, we lost a lot of possession, and they put a lot of pressure on us," Van Gastel said at the post-match press conference.
"But overall, I'm very proud of my team. For 13 matches, we fought hard to get points. Unfortunately, Persija won this time, but after 13 matches, no one expected us to be so high in the standings," he said.
