Dewa United Banten manager Zaki Iskandar said the team learned a lot from several European clubs in Spain, in order to build a better team foundation, after an eight-day working visit.
He explained that the management has studied the European basketball ecosystem extensively in an effort to strengthen the club's long-term foundation, by conducting comparative studies with several elite ACB League teams (Spain's top-tier basketball league), such as FC Barcelona Basquet, Club Joventut Badalona, and the development club Zentro Basket Madrid.
"We've seen firsthand how the big clubs in Spain have built a very strong professional culture, both at the academy and first-team level, so there are many things we can adapt to improve the club's quality," he said on the club's website on Monday.
During the visit, the Dewa United delegation had the opportunity to inspect the training facilities, youth academies, and management structures of top Spanish clubs.
Zaki stated that this experience was an important stepping stone in the club's efforts to build more professional organizational standards for Anak Dewa.
Because, he and the team also had intensive discussions with representatives from Barcelona and Badalona to discuss training methodology, sports science , youth player development, and long-term match management.
