Morocco will host the Africa Cup of Nations tournament between December 21 and January 18.
The Egyptian national team is participating in the Africa Cup of Nations tournament, where it is in a group that includes Angola, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
According to a report published by the British newspaper "Daily Mail", Manchester City's management informed the Egyptian Football Association that they would not allow Marmoush to join the national team camp early before the tournament due to the team's need for his services in the upcoming matches.
This decision comes after Marmoush recently recovered from a knee injury that kept him out of action for more than a month before he returned to shine in his team’s last match against Swansea City in the Carabao Cup, where he scored a goal and contributed to City’s qualification for the quarter-finals.
It is estimated that Manchester City could be without Marmoush for about ten matches if the Egyptian national team qualifies for the final stages of the African Cup of Nations.
Marmoush is expected to play for his team against Crystal Palace on December 14, the same day that the Egyptian national team will play a friendly match against Nigeria, before the player joins the "Pharaohs" camp after the end of his commitment with the club.
The report added that Liverpool faces a similar situation with its star Mohamed Salah, as manager Hossam Hassan plans to rely on him in the tournament as well.
Egypt will begin their campaign in the tournament against Zimbabwe on December 22, followed by a match against South Africa on December 26, and will conclude their group stage campaign against Angola on December 29.
