The World Boxing Association (WBA) announced that boxers Fernando Martinez and Jesse Rodrigues are ready to enter the ring to unify the WBA, World Boxing Organization (WBO) and World Boxing Council (WBC) super flyweight world titles.
"The fight between Martinez and Rodriguez will determine who truly holds the number one position in the super flyweight division," the WBA said in a statement on its official website, which was monitored.
The two boxers will meet in the ring on November 22 as part of the Riyadh Season schedule at the ABN Arena, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Martinez, known for his aggressive fighting style, will return with the WBA title. The Argentine boxer won the title in 2024 with a stunning victory over Kazuto Ioka in Japan.
He solidified his dominance with a successful title defense in their rematch last May.
Known for his relentless aggression and willingness to fight, Martinez has built his career on tenacity, punch volume, and steely determination.
The undefeated 34-year-old boxer has built a career with a record of 18 wins including 9 wins achieved via knockout (KO).
This time, he will face a tough test for world title unification against reigning WBC and WBO champion Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, from Texas, is one of the stars in boxing with a deadly talent who has defeated elite names with surprising dominance.
The undefeated boxer already has wins over Pedro Guevara, Juan Francisco Estrada, Sunny Edwards, Carlos Cuadras, and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, an impressive list of accomplishments for a veteran, let alone a 25-year-old.
Both fighters arrived in Saudi Arabia. They will weigh in on Friday, where they must reach the 115-pound limit before entering the ring.
