Nadal returns to the court after a year-long retirement

Rafael Nadal returned to the court after a year-long retirement, last competing in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Davis Cup.

Exactly one year later, the Spanish tennis legend returned to training at the Rafa Nadal Academy with Alexandra Eala, the WTA world number 50.

"After a year, it feels great to be back on the tennis court. It was a pleasure to train with you, Alex Eala. Next time I'll be stronger," Nadal wrote in a video post on Thursday.

Nadal remains heavily involved in his academy and continues to monitor the progress of players, including the 19-year-old Filipino, who rose from 143rd to the top 50 this year.

The training sessions reflected the relationship he has forged with the players who train at the academy.
