The commission explained in a statement, quoting its lawyer, that about 100 to 120 prisoners are being held in the camp in 12 cramped rooms, amid harsh conditions that include physical and psychological torture, isolation, and electric shocks, as happened with the two prisoners, Muhammad al-Qadi and Ali Abu Atiya.
She added that the prison administration shackles prisoners' hands and feet and blindfolds them during transfers, forcing them to walk with their heads bowed. They also suffer from a severe shortage of clothing and hygiene products; trousers are only replaced when they are torn, and some prisoners are forced to wear the same clothes for months on end.
According to the statement, prisoners are forced to shower with cold water outside their rooms using dish soap instead of shampoo, and their daily meals are limited to bread and yogurt, with tuna or sausages being served once a week.
The prisoners also suffer from harsh sleeping conditions due to the cramped rooms and lack of blankets, as some of them sleep on the floor inside rooms that lack heating and whose iron windows allow cold air and rain to enter.
The lawyer confirmed that the prison service raids the rooms daily and punishes prisoners repeatedly "for trivial reasons or for no reason at all," noting that they are forced to kneel during the daily count four times, and are prevented from sleeping after six in the morning or staying up at night.
More than 10,000 Palestinian prisoners, including women and children, are held in Israeli prisons, suffering torture, medical neglect and starvation, which has caused the death of a number of them, according to Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations.
The genocide perpetrated by Israel, which began on October 7, 2023, and lasted for two years, ended with the implementation of the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas on October 10. The genocide left more than 69,000 dead, over 170,000 wounded, and approximately 9,500 missing, either buried under the rubble of destroyed homes or whose fate remains unknown.
