Specialists at the Russian Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare (Rospotrebnadzor) have developed the world's first rapid test for diagnosing hepatitis C, which can detect the presence of the virus in just 25 to 30 minutes

This was reported by the press service of the Federal Service for Consumer Rights Protection (Rospotrebnadzor).

The agency explained that scientists from its Central Research Institute of Epidemiology registered this new test, which is based on LAMP (Low-Temperature Amplification) technology, as part of the federal project "The Country's Health Shield – Health Protection".

Hepatitis C is a serious infectious disease that can lead to cirrhosis or liver cancer. The virus is usually transmitted through the blood, and people with weak immune systems are more susceptible to infection.

The press service indicated that the new test reduces the diagnostic time from 1.5–2 hours to less than half an hour, which contributes to speeding up the process of detecting infection compared to traditional methods.

The authority confirmed that this innovation represents an important step in improving screening procedures and early detection of infected individuals, allowing for the rapid prescription of effective treatment and the implementation of preventive measures to limit the spread ofthe virus.
