The award was presented by the Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party and Member of Parliament for Hatay Province, Hüseyin Yayman, during the 5th Global Media Meeting of the World Council of Journalists, on Saturday.
The World Council of Journalists said that Sami Shehadeh embodied the meaning of perseverance and belief in the media message, and that he did not remain silent even though he became a target with his camera and the press vest he was wearing.
The Journalists Council added that Shehadeh represents more than 276 journalists who were targeted and killed in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
