Eyewitnesses reported that hundreds of tents belonging to displaced people were flooded, especially in the Chalets and Gaza Port areas west of the city.
Witnesses indicated that the winds accompanying the new low-pressure system hitting the sector caused widespread damage to the tents of the displaced people, and a large number of them were blown away, amid attempts by the residents to stabilize the tents and save their belongings from drowning.
The displaced people are suffering from difficult humanitarian conditions due to the bad weather and successive low-pressure systems, especially in light of the lack of means of protection and the absence of safe alternatives for shelter.
New martyrs
For its part, the Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the death toll from the Israeli genocide has risen to 70,665 martyrs and 171,145 wounded since October 2023.
This was stated in the ministry’s daily report on the statistics of the genocide committed by Israel in Gaza over two years, starting from October 8, 2023.
The ministry said: "Two new martyrs and six injuries arrived at hospitals in the Gaza Strip during the past 24 hours."
The ministry did not provide further details about the locations or circumstances of the killings and injuries, but Israel continues to violate the ceasefire agreement by targeting civilian areas and shooting at Palestinians.
The ministry noted that 393 Palestinians were killed and 1,086 were injured, in addition to the recovery of 632 bodies, since the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect on October 10.
Regarding the statistics of the Israeli genocide, the ministry said that the number of Palestinian martyrs has risen to 70,665, while the number of wounded has reached 171,145.
In addition to the victims, the Israeli genocide left behind massive destruction affecting 90 percent of the infrastructure in the sector, with reconstruction estimated by the United Nations to cost about $70 billion.
