Japanese heavy industry company Kawasaki announced that the "Corleo" robot, which combines the shape of a lion with a control mechanism resembling a motorcycle and a horse, will be available for sale by 2035

Takahiro Ueno, project manager of the "Safe Adventure" development team at the General Projects Office, which reports directly to the president of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, said: "This is currently just a concept, but by 2035 we will start selling it. We have already announced the start of preparations for industrial production, and this is a final decision."

Owino explained that the idea of "Corleo" was born from the concept of enabling humans to travel safely through rugged terrain that is inaccessible on foot or by any traditional means of transport.

Footage shows the robot carrying its rider as it climbs mountain peaks, runs through dense forests, crosses mountain streams, and jumps over obstacles.

Owino added: "Our main goal was to create a robot that integrates with humans, can be ridden and have all its capabilities used, while ensuring safety. The idea is for it to be an obedient robot that moves according to the wishes of its rider, incorporating the functions of a motorcycle and a horse, to enable humans to reach places that cannot be reached on foot or by vehicle."

PlayUeno explained: "I am responsible for the technical side, so it is difficult for me to determine the price, but it will not be 100 million yen ($640,000), it will most likely be much less (tens of thousands of dollars)."

Corleo was showcased at the Kawasaki booth at IREX 2025, the world's largest robotics exhibition, in Tokyo. It was the largest exhibition ever in terms of exhibitors, with 673 companies participating in 3,334 booths, including 140 booths representing 14 countries.
