The Ministry of Communication and Digital (Kemkomdigi) revealed that it has identified 1,890 pieces of hoax content circulating in the digital space in the past year, specifically from October 20, 2024, to December 6, 2025.
"We calculated from October 20, 2024, to December 6, 2025. So, in approximately one year, we discovered 1,890 hoaxes," said Communications and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid in a working meeting with Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the Parliament Complex.
Overall, the Ministry of Communication and Digital has taken action against more than 3,381,000 pieces of negative content in the digital realm. These items were identified and addressed through cyber patrols and public complaint channels.
"In general, there are more than 3,381,000 negative internet content (handled), of which there are 2.6 million gambling content, around 660,000 pornography, around 30,000 fraud, negative content that we received from various sectors, both the police and other ministries and institutions, there are 13,932 negative content from across sectors, including the police and other ministries and institutions, 8,500 terrorism and radicalism, and DFK (disinformation, slander, and hatred) there are 3,977," he explained.
However, Meutya believes there are still many hoaxes and other negative content that have not been detected.
