The Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT) reported that Saadettin Saran, who holds both Turkish and American citizenship, was arrested.
Saad Eddin Saran underwent forensic examinations due to the presence of traces of drugs in samples of his hair.
The president of the Turkish club was summoned last week to testify before the public prosecutor, and he was sent to the forensic medicine center to provide samples of his hair and blood as well.
Saran, who was elected president of Fenerbahce last September, was questioned last week on suspicion of involvement in supplying and facilitating drug use.
Fenerbahce issued a statement expressing their support for Saran and assuring their fans that the club's operations would continue uninterrupted.
The Turkish club announced: "We have full confidence that our president will overcome this ordeal with the same wisdom and steadfastness that he has always possessed, he will turn this page and continue to work with all determination for our club."
Saran, for his part, categorically denied using cocaine and announced that he would retest at a private laboratory.
In a statement posted on social media, Saran wrote: "I have never used the substance that allegedly tested positive in the forensic lab results. I have not only never used it, but I have never even seen it up close."
Saran considered these allegations a smear campaign aimed at destroying the institutions he represents.
The successful 61-year-old businessman, who holds both Turkish and American citizenship, owns Saran Holding, a company with interests in sports media, film production, and tourism.
