Anthony Joshua finally broke his silence on Thursday, after weeks since the road accident in Nigeria which led to the death of his trainer and fitness trainer.
In a video published on his YouTube channel, the British boxer spoke of the loss of Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, whom he presented as his "brothers".
''I'm here in front of a camera. Unfortunately, I am not speaking to all of you directly. If you know my character, I would much rather do it, but there is what I want, and then there is reality. So this is the best way for me to address all of you, all over the world, who have shown so much love, care and support during this tragic and traumatic time when we lost Lats and Sina to Nigeria.’’, said Anthony Joshua.
The British boxer was in the vehicle which collided with a stationary truck on a highway linking Lagos and Ibadan in Nigeria on December 29.
‘’What can I say? One day my time will come, and I'm not afraid, not at all. It's actually comforting to know that I have two brothers on the other side. You know, I've lost people before, but I don't think I've lost people that way. They were seated to my left and right.'',
And added ''Throughout this journey that I followed, I didn't even realize it... I am tall, but I walked with giants who protected me, who supported me. "
The driver involved in the accident is being prosecuted on four counts including dangerous driving resulting in death, reckless driving and negligence. He was in court on January 20 for his first appearance. His hearing was adjourned until February 25 at the request of the public prosecutor.
