This came during telephone calls made by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the contacts came "within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultation regarding regional developments," and reported that the contacts addressed developments in the Gaza Strip.
During the calls, emphasis was placed on "the need to implement the requirements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza" (which began on January 15), according to the ministry.
These entitlements include: the formation of transitional structures, Israel's withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and the start of the reconstruction process.
The ministry added that the ministers also stressed "support for the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and the deployment of the International Stabilization Force to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire," and the ministers stressed in their communications "the importance of paving the way for the early recovery and reconstruction phase, and continuing the flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip."
Turkish-Arab talks
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan also discussed issues related to Gaza and regional developments with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdel-Aty, Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan, and Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi.
This came during a phone call on Monday, according to sources in the Turkish Foreign Ministry, who stated that the talks focused on issues related to the Gaza Strip and the latest developments in the region.
Gaza Administration
In this context, Egypt affirmed on Monday its full support for the National Committee for the Management of Gaza, given the responsibilities it undertakes during this critical phase.
This came during Foreign and Immigration Minister Badr Abdel-Aati’s meeting today with Dr. Ali Shaath, head of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, where he congratulated him on assuming his position as head of the National Committee concerned with the administration of the sector, wishing him success in performing his duties, according to Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khallaf.
In a press statement, the spokesman said that Minister Abdel-Aati expressed his full support for the head of the committee and all its members, stressing the importance of the role played by the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza in managing the daily affairs of the residents of the sector and meeting their basic needs, in preparation for the return of the Palestinian Authority to assume its full responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with Security Council Resolution No. 2803.
Minister Abdel-Aati welcomed the formation of the committee and the expertise of its members, which contributes to ensuring the efficiency of institutional performance and achieving administrative stability during the transitional phase, stressing that Egypt will continue to provide full support to the Palestinian brothers during this critical phase that the Palestinian cause is going through.
He pointed to the need to complete the necessary steps to implement the remaining requirements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan, most notably the formation and deployment of the International Stabilization Force, the continued provision of humanitarian and relief aid to the sector, and paving the way for the early recovery and reconstruction phase.
In contrast, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich called on Monday for the cancellation of US President Donald Trump's plan regarding the Gaza Strip.
Based on the plan, a ceasefire began on October 10th, following an Israeli war of extermination in Gaza with American support.
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted Smotrich as saying during the opening of a settlement in the occupied West Bank: "It is time to thank President Trump for his tremendous support for Israel and his goodwill."
He continued: "And we should also thank him for his important assistance in bringing back the hostages (from Gaza). But we must make it clear to him that his plan is harmful to Israel and he must cancel it."
Smotrich, the leader of the far-right Religious Zionist party, claimed that "Gaza is ours, and its future will affect our future more than anyone else's," adding: "Therefore, we must take responsibility for what happens there, impose military rule (occupation), and complete the mission."
He called for the dismantling of the Civil-Military Coordination Center, which Washington established last year in the settlement of Kiryat Gat (south), and which oversees the implementation of Trump’s plan.
On Sunday, Ali Shaath, head of the Palestinian committee for managing Gaza, signed the committee's mission statement, in his first official action, specifically outlining its working principles and responsibilities.
This committee is one of four transitional structures in Gaza under Trump’s plan, which also includes the Peace Council, the Gaza Executive Council, and the International Stabilization Force.
With American support, Israel began a two-year war of extermination in Gaza on October 8, 2023, which left more than 71,000 martyrs and more than 171,000 wounded Palestinians, most of them children and women.
During the war of extermination, Israel destroyed 90% of the civilian infrastructure in Gaza, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at around $70 billion.
Every day, the ceasefire agreement in effect since October 10th is violated, resulting in the martyrdom of 465 Palestinians and the injury of 1287, most of them children and women, as well as material destruction.
It also severely restricts the entry of agreed-upon quantities of humanitarian aid into Gaza, where some 2.4 million Palestinians, including 1.5 million displaced people, live in catastrophic conditions as a result of the genocidal war.
In 1948, Israel was established on lands occupied by armed Zionist gangs who committed massacres and displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. Tel Aviv then occupied the rest of the Palestinian territories and refuses to withdraw and allow the establishment of a Palestinian state.
