BWF to trial 25-second time clock rule at Indonesia Masters 2026
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has begun trialing the implementation of the new 25-second Time Clock rule and the concept of continuous play in a number of BWF World Tour tournaments, including the Super 500 Indonesia Masters 2026 at Istora Senayan, Jakarta, on January 20–25.

In an official statement from the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI), Wednesday, the regulation was designed to increase consistency in enforcement while minimizing delays between rallies, which have often been a source of differences in referee assessments.

Through the Time Clock system, players—especially the server—have a maximum of 25 seconds to prepare for their next serve after the end of a rally. The time countdown begins when the referee enters the score of the previous rally, providing an objective measure of time and reducing the subjective element in judging delays.
