Fidan participates in an international meeting to discuss preparations for the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

Sources at the Turkish Foreign Ministry reported on Monday that Fidan participated in the online meeting, as a follow-up to the meeting that took place in Miami, Florida, in late December 2025.

The sources indicated that Fidan discussed with officials from the United States, Egypt and Qatar the preparations related to the second phase of the peace plan concerning Gaza.

On December 19, officials from the United States, Egypt, Qatar and Turkey held a closed meeting in Miami to discuss preparations for the second phase of the Gaza agreement.

On October 8, 2023, Israel, with American support, began a two-year genocide in the Gaza Strip, which left more than 71,000 martyrs and more than 171,000 wounded Palestinians, most of them children and women, and caused destruction to about 90 percent of the civilian infrastructure, with reconstruction costs estimated by the United Nations at about $70 billion.

On September 29, 2025, US President Donald Trump announced a 20-point plan for peace and an end to the war in Gaza. The first phase of the plan went into effect on October 10, 2025, but Israel violated it and stalled on moving to the second phase.
