The Iranian national futsal team topped Group D of the 2026 Asian Futsal Cup after securing a convincing victory in their first match at the International Velodrome.
Coming as defending champions and the most successful team with 13 titles, Iran crushed Malaysia 4-1 in their first match.
Mohammadhossein Derakhshani (1') gave the nine-time Futsal World Cup players an early lead, before scoring three goals in three minutes in the second half through Behrooz Azimi (25'), Masoud Yousef (26'), and Hossein Tayebi (27'). Malaysia's only goal in reply came from Muhammad Faris (39') late in the match.
