Gustavo Franca joins Arema FC after parting ways with Persija
Brazilian footballer Gustavo Franca has officially joined Arema FC after parting ways with Persija Jakarta during the 2025/2026 BRI Super League mid-season transfer window.

Arema FC General Manager Yusrinal Fitriandi said in Malang, East Java, on Tuesday that the decision to recruit Gustavo Franca was based on the results of an evaluation and the team's needs for the second round of the league.

"Once again, this is the result of the team's evaluation and needs," said Inal, Yusrinal's nickname.

Inal stated that Arema FC is indeed in need of a new injection of energy in the attacking midfield. The recruitment of Gustavo Franca has been planned by management.

Besides being an attacking midfielder, the former Persija Jakarta player can also play as a right and left winger.

Arema FC's midfield has indeed left space after the departure of Ian Puleio Araya and Paulinho Moccelin.

"Up front, there are many (pure) strikers and second strikers ," he said.
